A New Chapter for Vertical Excape

Today, I am reaching out with a blend of emotions as I share some significant news regarding Vertical eXcape – Bowling Green, a place that has been near and dear to our hearts for nearly 7 years.

It gives me immense pleasure to introduce the new stewards of Vertical eXcape – Bowling Green, the Ismail and Gupton Families. Their genuine passion for rock climbing and a strong commitment to fostering an inclusive and dynamic climbing community make them the perfect fit to carry forward the legacy of Vertical eXcape Climbing Center.

While transitions can be both bitter and sweet, I am confident that this change will bring forth positive growth and opportunities for all. RJ, H, Tara, and Dustin are deeply aligned with the values that have guided us since the inception of Vertical eXcape. Their dedication to safety, innovation, and community building is unwavering. 

Over the years, Vertical eXcape – Bowling Green has evolved into more than just a climbing facility – it has become a second home for many of you. Your unwavering support, passion, and camaraderie have shaped the identity of VX, and I have every belief that you will extend the same warmth and cooperation to the Ismail’s and Gupton’s.

Effective September 1, RJ, H, Tara, and Dustin will be assuming ownership of Vertical eXcape – Bowling Green. They bring with them a fresh vision, exciting events, and improvements that are bound to enhance your climbing experience. Rest assured, the high standards you've come to expect from Vertical eXcape Climbing Center will remain a cornerstone of their approach.

I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to each of you who has been a part of our climbing family. Your stories, your triumphs, and your sense of belonging have transformed Vertical eXcape – Bowling Green into an extraordinary community. As I step away from my role, I carry these memories with me, excited to witness the new heights Vertical eXcape – Bowling Green will achieve.

Please join me in extending a warm welcome to Ismail’s and Gupton’s as the new owners. And thank you for being an integral part of our journey.

THE NEW REDPOINT CLIMBING TEAM

We strive to continue to offer you the best and only indoor rock climbing youth experience in South Central Kentucky. You might notice some changes from what we’ve come to know and love as Vertical Excape. We are happy to announce that Vertical Excape Bowling Green will now be known as Redpoint Climbing Center.

We will be keeping our old team structure in place as we prepare for the upcoming USAC Bouldering and Sport Climbing season. We will be providing every RP3 (VX3) and RP4 (VX4) climber with a competition t-shirt to wear as we represent the new Team Redpoint at our USAC events. If you would like additional merchandise, we will be offering sweatshirts, tshirts, and tank tops for a small additional cost to all team members and parents. Youth sizes are available.

Practices will continue on scheduled days, but our new Competition Team’s HEAD COACH, Erik Schlachter, will be joining our team starting September 4th. Some of you will remember the Boulder Legend as a familiar old face at Vertical Excape. We are excited he’s returning home this season to help take our youth program to the next level here at the new Redpoint Climbing Center.

In addition to our new Head Coach, we will also be hosting competition seminars for parents who are new to the world of USA Climbing. Venturing into competitive rock climbing can be daunting and we want to make sure we are there to guide through the process so your climber can achieve any height.



Competition merchandise can be ordered at the front desk. We have t-shirts, tanks, hoodies, and beanies available. Orders are due September 14th.
